Fishtown Meet the Neighbors

Fishtown Meet the Neighbors

We had a great time (as usual) at the annual Fishtown “Meet the Neighbors“.  Got to hang out with my friends and fellow small businesses, along with a bunch of people that live and love Fishtown.

Yep, I won another auction raffle – a basket donated by The Pickled Heron which I have never been to, but have been meaning to visit for a while now.  My buddies Leo and Nancy from Fishtown Lawyers (this is who I run to with all my legal stuff) and Beth and Andy from Beth Blinebury Design (this is who you need for web/marketing/branding) won stuff, too.  Great night and lots of fun (aka heavy drinking) had by all!  Great job to Fishtown Neighbors Association for planning and hosting this great event!!

Before & After End Table

It’s amazing what a little bit of paint can do.  Here is a table that I picked up at a yard sale for a few dollars.  Super sturdy, but not very pretty.  With just a little bit of paint and imagination, look at what you can do to upgrade and make it pretty.  I took off the old handle and replaced it with the stylish knob. This only took me a day to complete.  Come visit us at Keys to the Attic to see other pieces that we finished and we’ll teach you how to do the same thing!

Weekend Before & After Paint Project

Now that the holidays are over and things have settled down, I will have more time for the gazillion projects that are either at home, in the store, or in my head.

This was a quick and easy that I did yesterday.  The ugly black chair has just been bugging me for a while and I wanted to play around with milk paint a little bit, soooo ….. here it is!

McCoy and Hull Pottery Ideas

Something that I’ve been collecting for years is McCoy, Hull and USA planters.  I especially tend to gravitate toward the green colors.  The funny thing is that I don’t think I have ever used any of them as a planter.  I’ve decided to thin out a little from my collection to make room for other things, therefore have a nice little stash of these planters for sale at the shoppe.

Just to give you some ideas, here’s some of the things that I’ve either used or plan to use the planters for.  So many of these ideas are so classy and take the place of using tacky plastic.

  • Containers for soaps, cotton balls & q-tips
  • Containers for pens, post-its and other office stuff
  • Dining and entertaining settings (see above)
  • Hold bedside table stuff
  • Dog or cat food dish (I admit I’ve never done this)
  • Or, as intended, a planter!

We Love Loyal Customers – Like Bill (handsome Golden Retriever)!

At Keys to the Attic, we love all of our customers – with 2 legs or 4 legs (more legs and we get a little scared).  We keep a dog treat machine in front of the store for our furry friends when they are out for their walk.

Meet Bill.  According to his owners, this handsome Golden Retriever knows (and leads them to) Keys to the Attic the minute they hit East Girard Avenue.  And we love seeing him!
