Before & After ~ Green Cube Shelving

I came across this cube shelf over the weekend and it seemed like it would be functional (and it was super cheap). The only problem was that it was a little too minty green for my liking. So, I painted it. That’s all … simple enough.

Not Our Usual … But Interesting …

We got a couple of pieces in that are some sort of “outdoor art” or “metal art”.  Not along our usual line of stuff, but they are very interesting conversation pieces.  Does anybody know anything about them?  Please share.

The first is 4 people sitting at a table playing cards.  The second (the kinda creepy one) is of a doctor spanking an upside down baby (I hope).

Weekend Before & After Paint Project

Now that the holidays are over and things have settled down, I will have more time for the gazillion projects that are either at home, in the store, or in my head.

This was a quick and easy that I did yesterday.  The ugly black chair has just been bugging me for a while and I wanted to play around with milk paint a little bit, soooo ….. here it is!

McCoy and Hull Pottery Ideas

Something that I’ve been collecting for years is McCoy, Hull and USA planters.  I especially tend to gravitate toward the green colors.  The funny thing is that I don’t think I have ever used any of them as a planter.  I’ve decided to thin out a little from my collection to make room for other things, therefore have a nice little stash of these planters for sale at the shoppe.

Just to give you some ideas, here’s some of the things that I’ve either used or plan to use the planters for.  So many of these ideas are so classy and take the place of using tacky plastic.

  • Containers for soaps, cotton balls & q-tips
  • Containers for pens, post-its and other office stuff
  • Dining and entertaining settings (see above)
  • Hold bedside table stuff
  • Dog or cat food dish (I admit I’ve never done this)
  • Or, as intended, a planter!

We Love Loyal Customers – Like Bill (handsome Golden Retriever)!

At Keys to the Attic, we love all of our customers – with 2 legs or 4 legs (more legs and we get a little scared).  We keep a dog treat machine in front of the store for our furry friends when they are out for their walk.

Meet Bill.  According to his owners, this handsome Golden Retriever knows (and leads them to) Keys to the Attic the minute they hit East Girard Avenue.  And we love seeing him!

Americana Candles ~ www.KeystotheAttic.com

Please Note:  We will ship.  Just contact us at:  [email protected] or 267.324.3681.

Our Americana Candles are back in stock (I promise we will know how to order better for next year) and we have added a delicious new flavor to the mix – Vanilla Bean.  The really neat thing about this particular Vanilla Bean candle is that it is covered in a light layer of mica, so when it burns the candle actually glows!

In addition, we now have the following in stock:  Jingle Bells, Evergreen Citrus and Homestead.

Jingle Bells, Evergreen Citrus, Vanilla Bean, Homestead

We LOVE these candles because they are made with 100% natural products and have a burn life of approximately 155 hours.  They burn down the middle, so when they’re done, we put them in a plastic bag and bag the candle with a hammer.  They break into shards and pieces which we then burn in tart burners – it’s like the never-ending candle.

In addition to the holidays, these candles are great for house warming and hostess gifts.

On Another Note … Cocktails Anyone??

We have 3 gorgeous sets of Mikasa stemware:  Set of 4 martini glasses, set of 4 pilsner glasses, and set of 6 cordial glasses.  These would make lovely holiday gifts or would be the perfect addition to your own festive table. (Boxes are included for each set.)  Contact us for questions or pricing:  [email protected].
